If your feline seems abnormally itchy and is always scratching itself, fleas may not be the only problem. Your feline could have an allergy.
Feline allergies can cause itching and scratching to the point of excess shedding, sores and scabs. Contact allergies are the simplest allergies to spot; watch for a localized area rash on the feline's skin.
Additional allergies include inhalants (dust mites, pollen and mildew). Food (a specific brand of cat food) or a parasitic allergy.
