Kidney infections are one of those diseases that may go undetected for some time and then when the first symptoms appear it may be already at its advanced stages.
It is therefore, vital recognizing its early signs and bringing them to your vet's attention in order to begin prompt treatment.
Kidney infection is often a complication of a urinary tract infection. When bacteria grows in the urinary tract system it may spread to the neighboring kidneys and this can lead to renal failure, an irreversible, debilitating and progressive disease.
Symptoms:
• “Squatting” numerous times but not urinating
• Pain when the kidney area is palpitated
• Appearing listless or depressed
• Loss of interest in food
• Weight loss
• Blood in the urine
