Dogs with Chronic Bronchitis have a chronic cough that is deeper and "throatier" than the "soft, moist" cough caused by pneumonia. If increased mucus production is associated with the cough (coughing up and then swallowing the mucus), the dog finishes off its coughing in gagging, swallowing or choking.
