Heart disease in dogs is as common as heart disease in humans. While some dogs are born with developmental heart problems, most develop the condition during adulthood or old age. Possible signs of canine heart disease include coughing or hacking, wheezing, decreased energy or stamina, abdominal bloat and signs of poor circulation.
