Canine Hip Dysplasia
A sure sign of an older dog is one who suffers from stiff and achy joints. As with humans, dogs feel their age as their skeletal systems begins to breakdown.
Hip Dysplasia has been seen in all types of body styles of dogs. Canine Hip Dysplasia a skeletal disorder of the hip that begins with joint slackness and progresses to arthritis over a period of several months to years. Signs of FHD include a reluctance or inability to go up or down stairs, difficulty in rising from a sitting position, bunny-hopping gait when running, stiffness early in the morning that improves as the dog warms up, lameness after exercise, a clicking sound when walking, and many others. Elbow dysplasia shows many of the same symptoms.
