Description:Poria Cocos is a solid fungus which gorws on the roots of old pine trees. It only grows underground. They can grow very large with a white interior and a brown exterior.

Poria is very widely used in Chinese herbalism. It is traditionally used as a Qi tonic to benefit the internal organs. It is mildly diuretic and sedative, and is considered to be highly nourishing. It is a mild Shen tonic. Poria has significant immune enhancing ability, similar to the other mushrooms used in traditional Chinese medicine.
Poria cocos has also been used in China to help curve the desire to eat without causing stress or tension to the body since it has no ephedrine compounds or other ingredients that may stimulate the adrenal glands.
It was also considered to help promote longevity.
